The Pitch: HeartWood Centre for Community Youth Development

In this section, we invite non-profit groups working to make Halifax a better place to share their stories. Know a worthy candidate? Email
A non-profit, registered charity serving Nova Scotia since 1988, HeartWood Centre for Community Youth Development works directly with youth. We provide capacity-building services for youth and to others working with youth.
HeartWood focuses on providing inclusive, empowering and sustaining programming. We believe all youth can be active community members with valuable insights, skills and assets that contribute to building the vibrant and caring province we all want to live in. The heart of our work is in supporting youth-adult partnerships that empower youth to positively engage in the communities and organizations that are a part of their lives. We work with youth, with government, with services providers, with supportive adults: everyone that is interested in what happens when youth are viewed not just as the leaders of tomorrow but also as leaders of today.
